Parent to Parent
This book came about because one mother of a young alcoholic and drug addict wanted to create a daily reader for other parents of youth abusing drugs or alcohol. She enlisted contributions from other parents whose children are in one of the Enthusiastic Sobriety Programs throughout the United States. Each entry is based on one parent or family’s viewpoint and experience. We come from all walks of life and all kinds of families: married parents with biological or adopted children, single mothers, single fathers, divorced parents with shared parenting time, blended families, mothers who work outside the home, and homemaker mothers.
The purpose of the book is to help parents whose child may be abusing alcohol or drugs. You are not alone. We have been through the experience. We know it is hell. We also know that the Twelve Steps are a program of recovery, for our children as well as for ourselves. There is hope. By sharing our stories and how we have used the Twelve Steps to help us deal with our kids, we offer our ideas and hope to others.
